Honor Flight New England is a non-profit organization created solely to honor America's veterans for all of their sacrifices. Through generous donations we transport our heroes to Washington, D.C., to visit and reflect at their memorials AT NO COST TO THE VETERAN. Top priority is given to the senior veterans – World War II survivors, along with those other veterans who may be terminally ill.

The Chaplain’s Emergency Relief Fund is there to assist the families of service personnel, regardless of branch and provides temporary financial assistance to families in need.  The Chaplains Emergency Relief Fund "CERF" is a 501c3 [Tax ID# is available upon request] and is managed by New Hampshire National Guard Chaplains.

99.5% of the contributions made reach the military families in need.  Grants provided to families are considered a gift and do not have to be repaid.  The majority of grants given to families are for significant needs such as housing, utilities, auto repairs and medical expenses.

In the last 3 years, the CERF has helped 310 families with their urgent and pressing needs through the generosity of New Hampshire citizens, Churches, Family Readiness Groups, Corporations and Businesses from all over of New Hampshire.

YELLOW  RIBBON  CAMPAIGN

Yellow Ribbon Icon
Yellow ribbons have almost disappeared and many
that remain are worn and faded.
Has American Pride faded like our ribbons ?

Displaying yellow ribbons is one of the ways we can show
respect for our  troops and their families.

It takes so little on our part to display yellow ribbons,
yet it means so much to our troops.

Work in your neighborhood and community to put up more
yellow ribbons for our troops to see.

This is a great way to say "Thank You" to the troops returning home and
"Come Back Soon" to the ones being deployed.

When you purchase your Ribbon from a military group ALL monies go to supporting the troops! If you need to replace your Yellow Ribbon email us Blue Star Mothers of NH

POW Recognition Day

When : Third Friday of September

POW/MIA Recognition Day is a day of remembrance and hope for the speedy and safe return of American Prisoners of War, and those still Missing in Action. It also seeks the return of the remains of fallen soldiers.

The first official commemoration of POW/MIAs was July 18, 1979. It was the result of resolutions passed in Congress. The first national ceremony was held on this date. Over the next several years, it was held in varying dates of the year. Finally, in 1986, The National League of Families proposed the third Friday in September as a day to recognize and remember POW/MIAs. This date was selected, as it is not associated with any wars. Each year, the president of the United States issues a proclamation on this day.

Did you know? Federal law requires the POW/MIA flag to be flown on the following days:

  • Armed Forces Day, May 16
  • Memorial Day, May 25
  • Flag Day, June 14
  • Independence Day, July 4
  • POW/MIA Day, 3rd Friday of September
  • Veterans Day, Nov. 11

You will also notice the POW/MIA flag flown at all US Post office buildings, Veterans Administration, military memorial facilities, and many U.S. government buildings.

Please take a few moments today, to remember our missing soldiers, and those held as prisoners of war. Attend a ceremony in your area. Say a prayer for POWs and MIAs. Also, write to your senators and congressman to urge continued and increased effort towards bringing every service man and woman home. POW Recognition Day History
